Humwork by Psalmix
Privacy notice for parents
This notice covers the Humwork by Psalmix app and the parent pages at humworkapp.com. Humwork is a learning app for kids in kindergarten through grade 12. Everything else in Psalmix is covered by our main Privacy Policy.
1. The short version
- Kids don't get their own accounts. You hold the account, and you add a profile for each child.
- Kids can try sample lessons right away, and those save nothing. To add your child's profile and save their progress, you say yes by email first.
- After you say yes, we save progress on our servers so you can see reports and your child's work is backed up.
- We never sell your child's information. We never show your child ads. We never share it with anyone for their own use.
- You can see it, download it, delete it, or stop us from collecting more at any time.
2. Who we are and how to reach us
Humwork is made by MMC Media LLC, doing business as Psalmix. We are the only company that runs Humwork and decides what happens to your child's information.
- Email: hello@psalmix.com
- Mail: MMC Media LLC, PO Box 424, Morgan, UT 84050
- Phone: (385) 381-1463
I'm McKinzie, a homeschool mom and the person who runs Psalmix. If you have a question about your child's information, write to us and a real person will answer.
3. How kid profiles work
Your Humwork account belongs to you. To agree to anything in this notice, you must be 18 or older (we check the birth date on your account) and the child's parent or legal guardian.
Each child gets a profile under your account. A profile has:
- a nickname (optional, up to 20 characters; it starts as "Learner 1"),
- a picture picked from a short preset list (like a star or a moon),
- a grade band,
- whether the child is 13 or older (a yes or no you choose; we never ask for a birth date), and
- the settings you choose, like session length and days per week.
A profile never has your child's birth date, email address, photo, full name or password. Kids can't type messages, chat, post, or make anything public. Nothing your child does in Humwork is ever shown to other users.
4. Before you say yes
Before you agree, your child can try sample lessons. A sample lesson has no profile attached and saves nothing, on the device or with us, so there is no name, answer or progress to keep. You add your child's profile after you say yes by email.
To run at all, the app still has to talk to a few services. It sends only what each job needs:
- Sign-in: your account, so the app knows you subscribe.
- Purchase check: your account's purchase, never anything about your child. It runs only in the parent area, and kid screens never contact the purchase service.
- Song audio: your device's internet address, so the songs can stream to it.
- Crash reports: what went wrong in the code, with names, IDs, internet address and device details removed (Section 5.9).
Section 8 explains the limits on this technical information.
Your OK covers saving progress to our servers, with the parent reports that need it. Humwork needs saving on to work as a full course. Without it, your kids can try sample lessons only. Rewards (Section 5.4) are a separate choice: you can say yes to saving and no to rewards.
5. What we collect and why, feature by feature
For each feature below you'll find what it's for, what it collects, how it uses it, who helps us, and how long we keep it. "After you agree" means the feature runs only once you have agreed by email.
5.1 Kid profiles
- What it's for: keeping each child's practice separate.
- What it collects: nickname, preset picture, grade band, the 13-or-older yes/no, and settings (Section 3).
- How it's used: to show your child's name on their screens and set the right level.
- Who helps: Supabase stores it. Profiles exist only after you agree.
- How long: until you delete the profile, or 90 days after your subscription ends (Section 9).
5.2 Practice and games
- What it's for: your child hears a song, then proves it in short games, like Beat the Singer.
- What it collects: each answer, saved only as a short number or one word (never free typing), plus whether it was right, how long it took, whether a hint was used, and when practice started and stopped.
- How it's used: to grade answers, decide when a fact is truly mastered, and choose what to practice next.
- Who helps: before you agree, nobody. After you agree, answers are saved through our servers (Vercel) into our database (Supabase).
- How long: 90 days after your subscription ends, or right away if you delete the profile.
5.3 How Humwork picks today's practice
Humwork uses a fixed set of rules to build today's practice set. It fills the session in this order:
- Reviews that are due. Each fact has a review date. The date moves further out each time your child gets the fact right, and comes back sooner after a miss. Due reviews come first, most overdue first. They can fill at most 60% of the session. If more are due, the rest roll to tomorrow, so your child never faces a big pile.
- Something new: the next lesson stage in your child's course, or a lesson you picked.
- A mix: a few facts your child is getting stronger at, mixed across at least 2 songs.
- End on a win: the last question is a fact your child already knows.
Two more rules apply the whole time:
- Session length: you pick 5, 10 or 15 minutes. It starts at 10.
- Frustration guard: after 3 misses in a row on new material, Humwork plays the song line, shows the answer, and switches to review for a bit.
[CONFIRM: matches BUILD-SPEC §6.6 as of 2026-10-15; recheck if the session composer changes.]
When Humwork suggests a song, it shows it as a choice your child taps. Songs never start playing on their own.
5.4 Rewards and goals (only if you choose them)
Song badges start right away (a child 13 or older says yes first). Gold Records and bonus games turn on automatically when we add them. Turn rewards off any time in Settings → Privacy.
- What it's for: making practice something kids look forward to.
- Gold Records (coming later): finishing the day's practice set puts a gold record on your child's shelf. The goal is 5 a week, not a streak. A missed day leaves an empty spot, with no guilt messages and no "you'll lose it" warnings.
- Song badges: a badge for each song your child masters.
- Bonus games (coming later): extra games that open as facts get stronger.
- Without rewards, your child still gets the day's practice set, the full course, and a certificate when they master it.
- What it collects: which gold records, badges and bonus games your child earned, and when.
- How it's used: to show your child's shelf and progress.
- Who helps: stored with Supabase.
- How long: same as practice data (Section 9).
Rewards and goals encourage kids to practice more often. Some states ask for a parent's OK before an app uses features like that, so they stay off unless you choose them. You can say yes to saving and no to rewards. For profiles you marked as 13 or older, your child also gets a one-time choice to turn them on or leave them off, and can turn them off any time in their own Settings. Turning them back on happens only in your parent area, and your teen is asked again.
5.5 Parent reports (after you agree)
- What it's for: showing you what your child has learned.
- What you get:
- a parent screen in the app, behind your parent PIN;
- a parent dashboard on psalmix.com, behind your sign-in and your parent PIN;
- a printable progress report. If you type your child's full name on it, that name is used only to print and is never saved.
- What it uses: the profile and practice data above. Nothing new is collected.
- Who helps: Supabase stores the data. Vercel runs the dashboard. We don't email reports. Resend only sends the consent emails.
- How long: reports are built from the practice data and follow its timeline.
Your child always sees a small badge on their home screen: "Your grown-up can see your progress." On profiles you marked as 13 or older, it says "Your parent can see your progress."
5.6 "Flag this question" button
- What it's for: letting your child tell us a question looks wrong.
- What it collects: which question was flagged and when. Kids can't type a note. You can add a short note from the parent screen.
- Who helps: stored with Supabase.
- How long: deleted with the profile, or 90 days after your subscription ends.
5.7 Song audio
- What it's for: playing the learning songs.
- What it collects: your device's internet address, which any streaming service needs to send audio.
- Who helps: Cloudflare stores and delivers our audio files.
- How long: Cloudflare's standard server logs [CONFIRM: Cloudflare log retention for our account].
5.8 Sign-in, purchases and app updates
- What it's for: knowing who subscribes and keeping the app current.
- What it collects: your account details and your purchase record. Nothing about your child goes to the purchase service. App updates come only through the App Store or Google Play. Humwork doesn't download updates from anyone else.
- Who helps: Supabase (sign-in), Apple or Google (sign-in if you use them, and store purchases), RevenueCat (checks store purchases), Creem (web checkout).
- How long: see our main Privacy Policy for your account and payment records.
5.9 Crash reports
- What it's for: finding and fixing bugs.
- What it collects: what went wrong in the code. Before anything is sent, we remove your internet address, account and profile IDs, your child's nickname, your child's answers, and the device's name and details.
- Who helps: Sentry [CONFIRM: final crash-report service].
- How long: deleted automatically within 90 days [CONFIRM: match the Sentry plan's retention].
5.10 Making Humwork better
- What it's for: catching questions that might be wrong. Items missed by most kids are sent to a person for review.
- What it uses: right and wrong counts for each question, added up across the kids whose parents turned on saving. The totals have no names, profiles or accounts attached.
- How it's used: only to find and fix questions inside Humwork.
5.11 App store age check
- What it's for: some states require apps to check an age signal from the App Store or Google Play.
- What it collects: the age range the App Store or Google Play reports.
- How it's used: only to switch on the right age protections. We start with the most protective setting.
- How long: deleted right after the check. It never goes into crash reports, logs or shared tables. [CONFIRM: whether the app keeps only the resulting setting.]
6. What we never do
- We never sell your child's information.
- We never show ads in Humwork, and we never use your child's information for ads anywhere.
- We never share your child's information with any company for its own use.
- We never put ad trackers, the Meta (Facebook) pixel, or outside analytics tools in the Humwork app or on humworkapp.com. Our counts come from our own records.
- We never send push notifications to kid profiles. Reminders go only to a phone where you turned them on from the parent area, tied to your account. We don't send reminder emails.
- We never send your child's progress or answers to your state, school district or ESA program. Need records for them? Use the printable report. (Billing for ESA purchases is separate and contains no child data.)
- We never let your child chat, post, or make anything public.
- We never record your child's voice, use the camera, or ask for your device's location [CONFIRM: we never read or store the city-level location our web host adds to requests].
- We never ask your child for more information than a game needs.
7. Companies that help us run Humwork
The companies that handle your child's information for us have agreed in writing to use it only to provide their service to us. Apple, Google and Creem get only your account, purchase and billing details, never your child's profile, nickname or progress. [CONFIRM: do not publish until this is true: a written agreement or vendor email on file for Supabase, Vercel (Pro, done), Cloudflare (DPA accepted), Resend, RevenueCat and the crash reporter (Expo is kept out of kids' data), none of which lets the company use our users' data in identifiable form for its own purposes (draft 06). If one does, email-plus consent stops being allowed.]
| Company | What it does for Humwork | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Our database and sign-in | Your account; after you agree, kid profiles, practice and rewards |
| Vercel | Runs our website, parent dashboard and the servers the app talks to | Requests passing through, including your internet address, in short-term server logs |
| Cloudflare | Stores and delivers song audio | Your device's internet address |
| Resend | Sends the consent emails | Your email address and the email itself (no information about your child) |
| RevenueCat | Checks App Store and Google Play purchases | Your account's purchase, and the device's internet address; never your child's profile, nickname or progress |
| Sentry [CONFIRM] | Crash reports | Bug details with names, IDs, internet address and device details removed |
| Apple, Google | Sign-in (if you choose it), store purchases, store age signals | Your account and purchase; the age range (Section 5.11); never your child's profile, nickname or progress |
| Creem | Web checkout | Your billing details only |
These companies work for us. By written agreement, they can't use your child's information for anything of their own. We do not give your child's information to any third party. If that ever changes, we will ask for your permission first, with an extra step to confirm it's really you.
8. Technical information we use only to run the app
Before you agree, and after, the app uses a few technical identifiers, like your device's internet address and app-install details. We use them only to:
- sign you in,
- check your purchase,
- stream song audio,
- keep the app and your account secure,
- find and fix crashes, and
- meet legal duties, like app store age checks.
Here's how we make sure they're used for nothing else:
- Humwork has no ad tools and no outside analytics.
- The companies above handle this information only to provide their service to us.
- Crash reports have identifiers removed before they leave the device (Section 5.9).
- Age-check information is deleted right after the check (Section 5.11).
We never use this information to contact a specific person, build a profile of anyone, or target ads.
9. How long we keep it
We keep information about your child only as long as Humwork needs it, and never forever.
| Information | Why we have it | Why we keep it | When it's deleted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile, practice, rewards, flags | To run lessons and show your reports | So your child can pick up where they left off | Right away when you delete the profile. Otherwise, 90 days after your subscription ends. Come back within 90 days and it's all still there. |
| After you turn off saving or take back your OK (but keep subscribing) | You asked us to stop | Only if you picked Keep 90 days, in case you turn saving back on | You pick: Delete now (removes the profile and everything saved; to save again, add the profile back), or Keep 90 days (deleted automatically at day 90 unless you turn saving back on; after taking back your OK, you'll agree again, then turn saving back on for each profile). If you ask by email and don't say which, we delete it right away. |
| Server, audio and email-delivery logs (internet address; delivery records for the consent emails) | Running and securing the service | Short-term troubleshooting | Deleted within [CONFIRM: longest of the Vercel, Cloudflare and Resend log windows] days |
| Age-check information | Age laws | No need once the check is done | Right after the check |
| Crash reports | Fixing bugs | Short-term troubleshooting | Deleted automatically within 90 days [CONFIRM: match the Sentry plan's retention] |
| Your consent record (who said yes, when, which notice, and which boxes you checked) | Proof that you agreed | The law requires us to be able to show it | 7 years after your account closes. It holds no information about your child except a profile ID on changes you make to one profile. For teen profiles, a separate entry holds the profile's ID, the teen's yes, no or Rewards off, the notice version and the time; it's kept the same 7 years. |
| Backup copies | Recovery if something breaks | Short-term safety net | They roll off within [CONFIRM: backup window] days |
| Totals with no names (Section 5.10) | Catching wrong questions | They can't be traced back to any child | Kept while they're useful for checking questions. They aren't information about your child. |
Deleting your whole Psalmix account deletes every kid profile on it, along with their data [CONFIRM: whether the main policy's 30-day account grace period also holds kids' data].
10. Your rights as a parent
You can do any of these at any time, for free:
- See what we have about your child: the parent screen and dashboard show a summary, and the download below has everything we hold.
- Download it: get a full copy of everything we hold about your child, plus the printable report.
- Delete it: delete one profile, or all of them. Deleting removes that child's information from our live systems right away. Backup copies roll off within [CONFIRM: backup window] days.
- Stop more collection: turn off saving for any profile, or take back your OK for one child or the whole account. We stop right away, and that child goes back to sample lessons that save nothing. Rewards turn off and stay off if you turn saving back on, until you choose them again. You pick what happens to what we already have: Delete now (removes the profile and everything saved; to save again, add the profile back), or Keep 90 days in case you turn saving back on (deleted automatically at day 90; after taking back your OK, you'll agree again, then turn saving back on for each profile). If you ask by email and don't say which, we delete it right away.
How: in the app, open the parent area (your PIN), then Settings → Privacy. Or email hello@psalmix.com from the email on your account. To protect your child, we confirm you're the parent first: you're signed in with your PIN, or you write from your account email. We only send your child's data to your account email or show it in the app. We'll reply within 5 business days, and usually sooner. Seeing, downloading and deleting in the app work right away.
11. If we change this notice
If we want to collect, use or share kids' information in a new way, we will email you first. Nothing new happens until you say yes to the new notice.
12. This website
humworkapp.com has no ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies and no sign-up forms. Vercel hosts this website, and its servers see your internet address when pages load.
